Isola Comacina is an ancient fortress, with ruins and the basilica, Prior to 1169, it was a refuge of vassal rebels and a region of naval baffles with Milan against Como. The island was raised to the ground by the people with the help of Barbarossa in 1169, it still has the picturesque ancient settings and shores of Spurano, the Romanesque style church of San Giacomo and the Santa Maria Maddalena.

The place is rich in history, art, tradition and memories of architectures and remains that seem to resist the passing of time, it also has an aura of mystery with it's churches and buildings in great numbers that are now buried between clearings.
